I married the one who bullied me in high school… and on our wedding night, he finally confessed the truth to me

An apology I wasn’t expecting anymore

Not vague apologies. Not a “if you took it the wrong way.” No. He admitted to being cruel, deliberately cruel. His voice trembled.

He told me he thought about it often. That he regretted it.

I didn’t forgive him immediately. I was too suspicious for that.

Yet, he remained consistent. He volunteered with teenagers. He wasn’t trying to impress anyone. He was simply present and consistent.

Little by little, I let my guard down.

We started dating.

When he proposed to me, I hesitated for a long time. He took my hands and said, “I’m not that boy anymore. I promise you.”

I wanted to believe him.
