My husband refused to do a DNA test for our daughter’s school project – so I did it behind his back, and the results prompted me to call the police.

“Is Dad coming too?”

“Please… Sue…”

“Tell me why you have no DNA in common with my daughter,” I said.

Greg grabbed onto the back of a chair.

“She’s mine,” he whispered.

“Of course… but not biologically. Is that right?”

His jaw tightened.

“Please… Sue…”

“I couldn’t give you a baby, Sue. I tried so many times. And I failed. It’s my fault we couldn’t do it.”

“So, Greg? You borrowed Mike’s… genes without asking me?”

He did not reply.

“Did you forge my signature at the clinic?”

He looked at the floor. I tapped the screen once, right on “0% shared DNA”.

He did not reply.

He finally spoke. “I had no choice.”

“You always had a choice,” I said. “It’s just that you didn’t like those who required honesty.”
