A privileged but lonely childhood

Rachel Ward was born in England into a wealthy family. Her father belonged to the British aristocracy and the family lived in a large manor house.

Despite this impressive setting, his childhood wasn’t always as idyllic as one might imagine. Very busy with their work, his parents often entrusted his upbringing to nannies.

This family distance profoundly marked the future actress, who learned very early on to develop her independence.

A career launched thanks to modeling

At just 16 years old, Rachel Ward decided to leave school to pursue a career in modeling. Quickly, her elegance and photogenic face attracted attention.

She appears on the covers of prestigious magazines such as  Vogue  and  Cosmopolitan .

Shortly afterwards, she moved to the United States and began appearing in advertisements before turning to film.

In 1979, she landed one of her first film roles. But it was a few years later that her career really took off.
