They were laughing on the pier.
— Film it, film it, it’s epic, — said his stepdaughter, brandishing her phone.
— Grandma, wow, actress of the year, — shouted the second grandson.
His own son was standing to the side, smiling askance.
“She’s just trying to scare us, she wants attention,” he said, as calmly as if he were talking about bad weather.
She went back downstairs and, for a moment, silence fell. But when she reappeared coughing, the laughter started again.
— Okay, enough of this circus, get out already, — said the stepdaughter irritably.
No one offered a helping hand.
At one point, she finally managed to grab the edge of the jetty, braced her elbows, and with difficulty pulled herself back. She lay on the planks, breathing heavily, water dripping from her hair, her lips trembling.
The laughter slowly faded away.
She stood up. She looked at them for a long time — without shouting, without hysteria. Just a look without tears or supplications.
And then she did something that left them in shock. 😲😱
Water was dripping from her, her dress clung to her body, her hands trembled not from cold but from humiliation.
The grandson was still smiling, but with less confidence now.
— Grandma, come on, it was just a joke…
She didn’t answer. Slowly, she took her phone out of her bag. Her fingers were wet, but she held them firmly.
— Hello. Police? I want to report an attempted murder. I have evidence. The video will suffice.
Their faces changed instantly.
“What are you doing?” murmured the stepdaughter, turning pale.
“What I should have done a long time ago,” the woman said calmly.
The daughter-in-law suddenly jumped and tried to delete the recording from her phone.
