A great lover of pop music, she particularly enjoyed Duran Duran, but also owned several Michael Jackson albums, including Thriller and Bad , which she listened to regularly. Needless to say, this meeting held a very special significance for her.
A tense moment
While Diana seemed at ease, Michael Jackson was extremely nervous. He would later admit to being both impressed and intimidated by the princess, to the point of making a surprising decision: removing ” Dirty Diana” from the setlist , fearing it might make her uncomfortable. This thoughtful gesture revealed the respect he held for her.
But Diana, far from being offended, encouraged him to sing it. Spontaneous and amused, she insisted he remain true to his show. The song was therefore performed that evening, to the great delight of the audience… and of the princess, who danced for much of the concert, unlike Prince Charles, who remained more reserved.
