A slight smile escaped me. My parents had chosen to celebrate Thanksgiving in one of the most renowned establishments in the city… without knowing that it was part of what I had built over the years.

Bella’s wasn’t just a prestigious restaurant. It was one of the cornerstones of Thompson Culinary Holdings, the group I founded. Seven restaurants, two catering services, and over 200 employees. An adventure that began as a simple food truck and grew into a thriving business.

I leaned back in my chair. Maybe this year, Thanksgiving would be different.


Part 1: A delicate decision

My general manager, Marcus, called me shortly afterwards.

“Evelyn, everything is ready for the weekend. We also have an important reservation in the private room for Mrs. Thompson. She insisted on every detail.”

“I know,” I replied calmly. “I’d like to change this reservation.”
