During farewells to his pregnant wife, a husband asked to see her one last time and noticed a movement that immediately alerted everyone.

A race against time.
They acted quickly, transferring Lillian to the nearest hospital while Andrew followed, stunned and silent, his thoughts unraveling as each second stretched endlessly, each memory of her laughter clashing with the fear of losing yet another fragment of her that he had left.

In the operating room, the atmosphere became charged with urgency, and Andrew could only wait, his hands clasped as if to hold back.

The sound that broke the silence.
When the scream finally came, faint but ferocious, it tore through the sterile silence like something alive refusing to surrender, and Andrew slumped into the armchair behind him, overwhelmed by a relief almost as painful as the grief that followed.

A nurse appeared, her eyes wide open, a mixture of cautious astonishment.

“Your child is here,” she said softly. “And in a way… stronger than expected.”
