Twenty years ago, I saved a boy during a storm — Yesterday, he returned with an envelope that gave me chills.

 

 

He swallowed with difficulty.

“My name is Andrew,” he whispered.

My stomach knotted.

“My name is Claire,” I replied. “And you’re coming with me.”

“Am I going to die?” he asked.

“No,” I said. “Not today.”

“Where is your band?”

He slipped. I caught him.

“Hold my hand,” I asked her.

He clung on.

“Where is your group?” I shouted.

“We were hiking. I turned back.”

“School!” he exclaimed. “We were out hiking. I turned back.”
